Windows 11 Build 26200.7840 Focuses on Stability — Taskbar, File Explorer & BSOD Fixes Lead the Update


 

 

Microsoft has rolled out a new Windows 11 Insider build based on version 25H2 — and while it doesn’t introduce flashy AI tools or dramatic UI redesigns, it delivers something arguably more important: stability.

The latest preview builds, including Windows 11 Build 26200.7840 (KB5077181), focus heavily on reliability improvements, addressing several frustrating bugs that have impacted users in recent releases.

🔧 Taskbar Autohide Bug Finally Addressed

One of the most noticeable fixes targets a long-standing issue with the taskbar’s autohide feature.

Users reported that when the taskbar was set to autohide, system tray icons would sometimes fail to appear properly. Hovering over the taskbar became a guessing game.

Microsoft says it has now:

“Improved reliability of showing app icons in the system tray when the taskbar was set to autohide.”

It’s a small fix — but for users who rely on tray icons for quick access to network, sound, security, or background apps, this is a meaningful quality-of-life improvement.

📂 File Explorer Window Jump Bug Resolved

Another annoying glitch involved File Explorer windows unexpectedly resetting or jumping to the Desktop or Home screen.

The engineering team has now:

“Addressed an issue where all File Explorer open windows and tabs might unexpectedly jump to Desktop or Home.”

For productivity-focused users juggling multiple Explorer windows, this fix removes a disruptive experience that felt random and unstable.

⚠️ Black Screen of Death (BSOD) & Wi-Fi WPA3 Fixes

Microsoft has also confirmed and patched two significant issues:

  1. Black Screen of Death (BSOD)
    Some users experienced a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE error.
    The issue was linked to specific graphics configurations and the system file dxgmms2.sys, which manages DirectX memory.

  2. Wi-Fi Connectivity Problems
    The optional January update (KB5074105) introduced a bug affecting Wi-Fi connections using the WPA3-Personal security protocol.

Both problems have reportedly been resolved in Windows 11 Build 26200.7840 (KB5077181) and later staged rollouts.

For enterprise users and IT teams, these fixes are critical — especially where security protocols like WPA3 are standard.

💼 A Subtle Microsoft 365 Integration Push

While this build prioritizes bug fixes, there is one notable addition for subscribers.

Microsoft 365 Family users can now see an option within the Settings app’s Accounts page to upgrade their plan — without leaving Windows.
